Martin Skec

Martin Skec, born in late 1992 in Zagreb, Croatia is now living and working in Berlin, Germany.

My programming career started when I enrolled in a Computer Science bachelor program in University of Zagreb. During the 2nd year I enrolled in Competitive Programming and scored my first internship where I started building my professional experience. This was just the beginning, and a few months later I joined a startup where I got hands-on experience in all aspect of software development, from frontend to backend and infrastructure (React, Node.js, aws).

Five years later, I finished my Masters and decided to move to Berlin to build my career. My first employment was as a Frontend Engineer (React, Node.js) at Auto1 IT Services GmbH, where I was working on a rendering engine for marketing page. After a couple of months, I joined Telefónica NEXT GmbH, an ambitious startup seeking to build an IoT platform where I continued as a Frontend Engineer (React) and later switch to a Fullstack Engineer role (React, Node.js, Kafka, mqtt).

During my years in Berlin, I started working as a freelancer building whole projects for my clients. For Carl Finance GmbH, I worked closely with their Product Manager and CEO to built an admin web interface to manage their leads (React). For Product Crrowd GmbH, a product review startup, I was working with founders to setup their development process, system infrastructure, and implement backend and a mobile app (React Native, Node.js, Postgres, aws), from the initial idea to launch.
